KIMI to IMIK (from Timid to Speak Up) - Filipino community's response to Racism and  discrimination.

JOIN us in this new project/campaign of PATAC - Kimi to IMIK, a four-part Internal Learning Sessions on racism. We have slots for 20 participants and we hope you will participate and help us lead the fight against racism. This is a series of learning sessions on anti-racism focused on the Filipinos` experiences. It hopes to raise greater awareness, and, hopefully, help us, as a community, to address these concerns pro-actively.

The project will jumpstart the process of breaking the silence of Filipinos through structured, culturally-responsive, strength-based discourse towards collective action. The project will provide a safe space for Filipinos to share their stories. With guidance from experts who have studied the Filipino diaspora, we hope to gain an understanding of the various manifestations of racism, and create informative resources on ways to address the problem.

It also aims to increase access to information, resources and opportunities for Filipino youth and workers to address the causes and consequences of racism. The goal of the project is to raise awareness among Filipinos of their strengths as a community and their shared experiences with racism. TOGETHER we will develop resources that will benefit the community.

Each interactive learning session is 1.5 hours long. Experts and community leaders will share their knowledge and experiences on racism: prevalence, causes and consequences of racism. Guest speakers from the legal, academic, social work and labour sectors will be invited. Hopefully, together, we will develop resources to benefit the Filipino community.
